Inspired by the age-old quilting bees of our past, our workshops were created to connect with others in a deeper and more meaningful way to build a greater community. We make great efforts to use supplies that are recycled and environmentally sustainable, so not only will you be making something great, you will be making a difference!

Come learn the basic techniques used to transfer raw wool into felt! This workshop was created to motivate felting beginners to explore the possibilities of felt as an artistic medium. Experimenting with silks, cheese cloth, laces, and yarns, you can choose to make pillow fronts, scarves, purses, lap top cases, skirts, jackets, or curtains! The possibilities are endless! Time for pillow talk or a pillow fight! Come design the pillow of your dreams and Sara will teach you the tricks of the trade! Learn all about welting, flange, knife-edges, buttons, zippers n' all! Create an old-fashioned pillowcase for a loved one or a throw pillow for your bed or couch. Make it extra special by embroidering something special, stuffing it with organic wool, or throwing a handful of lavender in! (Tuesdays 6:00-8:00, $35)

Sick of looking for the perfect skirt?? Well look no further! This beginning sewing workshop will guide you through zippers, seams, and stitches, all the while creating the ultimate fitted skirt! Just bring a pattern and sewing machine (if you have one) and you'll be well on your way to skirting-off somewhere special! (Sign up: Mondays 6:00-8:00, 5 Sessions $150)

Alter a book and alter your LIFE! This class is an on-going, awesome way to connect with other artists and yourself by reworking an old book with paints, papers, stitches, fabrics, and buttons. It's a great way to turn unwanted scraps into a piece of art, journal, or photo book! All you need is an old book. Search for one that has special meaning to you! Come create! (Drop in: Wednesdays, Thursdays 6:30-9:00, $40 a night, $140 for 4)

We encourage everyone to pay as far in advance as possible.... Two days at the very latest please! You can call or stop by the shop to sign up. Upon receiving payment, pickup or we will send a supply list and you will receive 20% off all supplies purchased at Ambatalia.

Please make sure to do so one entire day before the workshop, and a full refund will be given to those who do!

Private workshops can totally be arranged, so if you have someone special in town, or want to a creative party and our schedules don't match-don't hesitate to ask and we will find time. We could even do house calls!
